DIY: Love Notes

I have seen lots of dry erase boards with very ornate framing around them that I have fallen in love with! But, not the price.

I also love the "I love you because" boards too! I think it is such a great idea to tell someone why you love them. Even if it is the little things!

So I set out to make my own "I love you because" dry erase board. With BURLAP!

I have decorated most of our bedroom with burlap. Burlap lamp shades. Burlap throw pillows. Getting ready to attempt a burlap dust ruffle (wish me luck). Anyway, I decided to move the burlap theme into my bathroom.

I started with the burlap dry erase board. Here is the final product:

I found the frame at Target (my FAVORITE STORE!!!). All I did was hot glue a square piece of burlap fabric on the cardboard backing. Put the glass back in and POOF! A dry erase board!

I think I may add some burlap rosettes and eventually permantly print the "I love you because" on the burlap (which you can do with parchment paper! Maybe for another blog post.). But for right now, this is the final produce. I love!

I love burlap because it is AWESOME!

Beautifully Burlap

Ohmygosh.

I couldn't contain my excitement when I saw this photograph!

A wonderful customer (and family friend) got married recently. As a wedding gift, she wanted one of my wreaths. On her wedding day, her photographer Erin Foushee of Erin Sage Photography (who also photographed my wedding! She is amazing!) snapped this amazing photo! I had to share!

Burlap is beautifully elegant!

It's a Burlap Christmas, Y'all

Christmas is over. So sad. (As my niece said when we told her Christmas was over, "But I LOVE Chrismas.")

Really, I start decorating right after Thanksgiving. That is how my great-grandma did it, my grandma did it, my mom did it. So I do it. Sometimes I even bust out the decor on Thanksgiving.

Rebel.

Anyway. This was our first Christmas in our new house. We were excited. And poor.

So when it came time to decorate it, I thought, "What do I have lots of that is pretty and shabby chic?"

One guess. BURLAP!

So the Moores had a Burlap Christmas. Hopefully some design elements in my house will inspire design elements in yours.

So, lets take a tour, shall we?

I looked on Pinterest for some burlap-inspired tree skirt and came across the ruffled version. I fell in love and took on the task of trying to recreate it. Lets just say that my love for the ruffled burlap tree skirt slowly moved to hate. Boiling hate.

It was a slow, painful process of cutting the ruffles. Hemming the ruffles. Making the ruffles. Sewing the ruffle on the base. Then repeat. Awful. But it got done. And I was excited!

And my dog, Charleigh, was excited about it too!

Here is a little pic stitch for you. I topped the tree with a huge white burlap bow. It looked amazing on my silver and white tree. Later in the month, I saw on Pinterest where someone topped their tree with their last name initial. I live in the South, so I HAD to do that. I used a cursive M. Beautiful!

I also had a variety of burlap stockings in our house. These stockings I purchased from BeiFioriEmbellish.  I used them to accent the garland on the stairs.

How cute!

At the bottom of the stairs, I used a large natural burlap bow and our last name initial to seal the look:

Okay. Okay. So not EVERYTHING in my house was burlap. I have a red tree that I do every year. So, instead of red burlap I thought, "Why not do chevron?"

I too have caught the chevron craze, so I used my new sewing talents to create my very own chevron tree skirt. Which I LOVE!

And I made this little reminder pic in Paint! Sometimes, I just needed to read this and take a deep breath!

Well, there you go. A Moore Burlap Christmas!

I hope you and your family had a very Merry Christmas and Holiday Season!

Oh hey, it's ME!

Hello blogging world,

My first post. I am excited!

Wecome to the mind of BurlapBelle, aka Megan. Here, you will find all you ever want to know about burlap.

Just kidding.

Really, this blog is for my thoughts, ideas, creations, ideas that become creations and creations that don't make the cut.

And also, it will probably be a place for me to post cute photographs of my niece and doggies. Whom I love to death!

A little about me. I grew up in a small town. I got married to my high school sweetheart. We started dating when I was 16 (I was just a baby).

See, we really were babies!

But, I know we had something special. And we did. We got married 6 and a half years later.

See, we really did get married! Hehe!

We have been blissfully married for two years. And I can truly say I love him more than I could ever imagine those eight long years ago.

We have two children. Furry children. Whom we love more than anything in this world. If my house was on fire, the only thing I would save would be my dogs. Charleigh is our "first born." She is a West Highland White Terrier, or a Westie, who wound up at a no-kill shelter when she was seven years old. We rescued her, only to realize she was very sick. She has diabetes (yes, dogs get diabetes. Who know?) and she has Cushing's. We treat her everyday. She is now nine, and even though we have only had her for two years, people think we have had her her whole life. We would truly be lost without our "old girl." Our next born is Lillie, the Wauzer (that is Schanuzer and Westie put together. At least that is what we were told she was). She is also a rescue who I drove six hours to get after finding her on PetFinder.com. She has many nicknames (Rat, Crazy, etc.) but we love her. Even when she chews EVERYTHING in sight. Including our wall.

Lillie and Charleigh. Obviously it is supper time.

I love to craft, especially with burlap. I find burlap to be so shabby chic, yet sophisticated at the same time. I can't get enought of it. I work every day to find new ways to share the burlap craze through my Etsy store, and hopefully, this blog.

I hope this blog allows you to have a little inspiration with burlap in your home.
